It burned, but not that badly

It burned, but not that badly

The Wedge Group Firewalk

It’s Friday night in Dallas, Texas.

5:00 p.m. Tony Robbins steps on stage and does some of his mojo stuff.

7:00 p.m. After lots of mojo, we go outside and see the wood stack up…

8:30 p.m. We participate in lighting the wood and it starts burning… (I’m already starting to freak out and wonder why I’m here).

10:00 p.m. We just completed an exercise where we wrote down on paper our biggest fear. The fire is red hot coals now and I threw the paper into the fire which consumed my written fear (I think that is a metaphor).

11:30 p.m. Just as we’re about to go outside to walk on hot coals, Tony says, “Everyone is ready except…” He then points out 2 people that weren’t ready for the walk. I’m thinking “Holy crap, I’m glad he didn’t pick me.” Then I’m thinking “Holy crap, I wish he’d picked me, I’m about to step on some really hot coals.”

11:45 p.m. We’re outside and they are beating out this crazy beat on bongo drums. We line up in two lines of about 75 people each. Heart pounding so hard it's hard to hear anything.

11:55 p.m. Tony walks on the coals, on a path of about 10 feet long, 20 inches wide. (What the heck was I thinking?)

Then they put fresh coals on both paths. (Thanks!)

12:00 midnight and they say “Go!” The first two go, then the next two, then the next two, then the next two…

12:08 a.m. It’s my turn… GO! I take a step onto the coals, saying “Cool Moss, Cool Moss, Cool Moss…” about 4 steps and I’m done and they are spraying water on my feet. I made it! I walked on fire! I celebrated…

For me, that was just the beginning…

My rational mind went to work to try and figure this out… and frankly I couldn’t.

Then the REVELATION! And this is what made it all worthwhile.

I'll talk about that in the next post.

Tell me below about an experience you had where you had to conquer your fear and what you saw when you did.

Thanks for the story. I too have done the fire walk with Tony Robbins. It was quite an experience and one that I will never forget.

    Cheers

Thanks for your comment, Jason. What did you get out of the firewalk?

I too attended the Tony Robbins Seminar, Unleash the Power Within! I am a big fan! Did not do the fire walk, because as a diabetic I thought that my doctor would not understand how I got the blisters on my feet, and did not want to have to explain it to him. So my wife and I went sky diving instead. Facing fear is not a one time challenge it is a daily challenge. After the UPW seminar, I have stretched myself both financially and emotionally. I just borrowed over a million dollars for an investment, changed where I live and how I live as well as sold most of my “stuff” of which I discovered actually owned me. I purchased the Time of your life tapes from Tony and discovered a method of getting what you want out of life and ” live with passion!”

RPM – Results (Outcome I want) Purpose (Why I want it) Massive Action (what do I do to get it, and then just do it)

My advice; Stretch yourself! you can accomplish more than you think is possible! If the mind can conceive, you can achieve!

Great stuff, CWL! Clearly it worked for you and you have demonstrable results for overcoming your fears. Thanks for the feedback!

Fear of heights is my deal I had to work on. My wife and I went on a trip to Whistler Canada and one of the activities was Ziplining. I was on vacation and adventurous and thought how bad can it be a line connected to two trees. Signed up and practiced on a small course and thought no big deal. Then they bus us up the mountain and we start going on platforms 1ooft in the air and showing us lines 4and 500 ft long going over creeks and small rivers. Luckily adventure won that day and we had a great time. I keep having to remind myself to not let fear or worry drag me down and be adventurous. As my grandfather told me about dating, whats the worst that can happen? No should not be something to be scared of.
